The PINKNEY business is a family firm with a high regard for the quality
aspect of the building industry. The business was established in 1969 and started as a
Plant Hire business supplying a wide range of equipment and operators. This understanding
of machinery has left its mark with the present business owning all its own plant, this
allows for the company to be more competitive than many other companies who have to hire
in or even sub-contract work. The business has this year
celebrated, thirty years in business a major achievement by any standard these days. With
the business now very strongly a father son team, it has every intention of passing to the
next generation, who we are sure will follow the family path.
The business has been involved in many major projects over the years, in Washington
during the towns growth during the eighties the company was responsible for the majority
of the landscaping for the districts, with the trees now up touching the sky where they
were once saplings.
The George Matthews Motel and Tracks Night Club was a major project that
established the company into the major building league, a complicated project that had to
be well researched and planned, and was a major success.
The CO-OP distribution centre in Birtley is a contract that has been on going since
1985. The company has completed a variety of work from new build, tarmac to roofing, and
recently the completion of a major installation of a computer room with provision for
power back ups. Over the years this has seen the company serving a property maintenance
roll on the whole site.
The Helme Park Hotel former residence of Colonel Stobbart, and former
Headquarters for Northern Forestry Products, was a major conversion carried out by
Pinkneys, with the property maintenance an on going contract.
The Post Chase Hotel in Bishop Auckland was a large extension with inclusion of Dance
Floor and other facilities.
Demesne Hall a grade 2 listed building, and the Coach House buildings were totally
renovated with the main hall converted to provide a Nursing Home and the Coach House
converted to provide Residential Accomodation.
With experience in developing a number of small housing estates the company has
developed and grown over the years to the stage where it can now provide the total
building service, from plans to landscaped gardens, and even extensive carp ponds . |
